Getting started with your Cloud PC (Windows App)
Introduction
This document in intended for Crestline Advisors subcontractors for accessing HMA technologies and resources. HMA is uses a Virtual Desktop technology called Microsoft Windows 365 Cloud PC, simply referred to as Cloud PC. Each Cloud PC is a virtual machine dedicated to an individual person. You access the Cloud PC through the program called Windows App.
You must have registered your cell phone as your MFA device for your new @creastlineadvisors.com account before logging in, if you need to reset this please visit: https://aka.ms/mfasetup. You may have to remove your previous Crestline and HMA Guest accounts and add your new @crestlineadvisors.com account.
You can start your process of accessing the Cloud PC by ensuring you can login to this website with your NEW @crestlineadvisors.com username and password: https://windows365.microsoft.com/ent#/devices
Installing Windows App
For Windows PC users: You will need the Microsoft Windows App in order to access your Cloud PC, available here from the Microsoft Store. Click to Install the Windows App and allow the browser to open the Store link.
For Mac OS users: You'll need the Microsoft Remote Desktop app with Workspace named rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com. Instructions found here.
App's for other OS's are found here.
Microsoft has just changed the name of this app from "Windows 365 app", if you find that app it will work as well.
Accessing your new Cloud PC
Find and launch the Windows App (previously called Windows 365). Use the Windows Search box and search for "Windows App". You should also click the Pin to Start and/or Pin to Taskbar to help find the Windows App in the future:
Launch the Windows App and sign in using your new HMA @crestlineadvisors.com username and password, which may be different that before the migration. You may be prompted for MFA when signing into the Windows App.
Click the "Connect" button to access your Cloud PC:
You may be prompted again to login with your @crestlineadvisor.com account and MFA while connecting to the Cloud PC.
If you receive a prompt to “Allow remote desktop connection?”, please answer Yes.
You will then be connected via remote desktop into the Cloud PC. It may also take a couple of minutes the first time you login. Because this is a "fresh" setup, you'll need to accept the welcome prompts for many applications as if you have not used them before.
FYI, you can have the Cloud PC use only 1 of your monitors, or all of your monitors, in the Windows 365 app by clicking the 3 dots (hamburger), select Settings and Display.
You may need to install additional software using these instructions.
There is an alternate installer for Windows (x64) attached to this article and for other platforms available here.
