How to Export and Import Bookmarks - Chrome and Edge
Introduction
Exporting your browser bookmarks is a great way to make sure you don’t lose your saved links during a migration or when you’re moving computers. This document shows you how to export and import your bookmarks in Chrome and Edge.
Chrome
- Open Chrome and select the 3 dots on the top right corner
- Select Bookmarks then Bookmark Manager
- Select the 3 dots on the right side of the page (NOT the 3 dots next to your Chrome profile picture)
- Select Export bookmarks
- Name the file and save it to your Desktop
- Select Save and you’re done!
Importing Bookmarks
To import your bookmarks into Chrome, follow the same steps in the Exporting Bookmarks section above up to Step 3. At this point, select Import bookmarks
It will bring up File Explorer. Select your bookmarks file, then select Open.
Edge
Exporting Bookmarks
- Open Edge, then open your Favoritesmenu. There are 3 different ways you can open Favorites:
- Press the “Ctrl” and “i” buttons at the same time
- Click on the Favorites icon on the top left side of the browser:
- Select the icon with 3 dots in the top right corner, then select Favorites

Once you’re in your Favorites page, select the 3 dots in the right corner, then select Export Favorite
- Name the file and decide where you want to save it (saving it to your desktop is recommended)
- Select Save and you’re done!
Importing Bookmarks
To import bookmarks into Edge, follow the same steps in the Exporting Bookmarks section above up to Step 2. Instead of clicking Export favorites, select Import favorites.
It will take you to a page that looks like the following:
Select where you want to import your bookmarks from and it will walk you through how to upload your saved bookmarks.
